Recreation Aid; Fitness

Overview

This position will be assigned to the Fitness Center at JBSA Lackland, TX. This is a regular part-time category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week, but may work up to 40 hours per week. Employees appointed to regular category positions are eligible for benefits.

• Performs duties in support of the day-to-day operation of JBSA-Lackland AFB Fitness Centers.
• Serves as front desk attendant to ensure only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment in accordance with Fitness Center policy.
• Greets visitors, answers telephones, makes reservations for classes or use of equipment and facilities, and provides information on scheduled events and classes.
• Issues sports equipment and completes required documentation for transactions.
• Inspects returned equipment, notes damage, and reports damaged exercise equipment to supervisor.
• Performs opening and closing procedures of facilities in accordance with written guidelines.
• Maintains and prepares Fitness Center facilities, grounds and equipment for daily use, programs and special functions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Reports to Fitness Center Manager and Chief, Fitness and Sports.

• Background investigation with favorable results required.
• Pre-employment Physical Examination required. Able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
• Current American Red Cross CPR or American Heart Association BLS certification and first aid certification, or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• U.S. Citizen or Legal U.S. Resident for a minimum of 3 years and reside in/around the area as noted in the Job Opportunity Announcement.
