St. Anthony Catholic High School, a private college preparatory high school, seeks an Assistant Girls’ Basketball Coach to assist the Head Coach in developing a competitive program. This seasonal part‑time position supports the mission and core values of the school and reports to the Athletic Director.

Job Duties- Assist the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Organize and direct individual and small‑group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.
- Assess player skills, monitor players during competition and practice, and keep the head coach informed of athletic performance.
- Assist with determining game strategy.
- Supervise athletes during practices and competition.
- Attend all practices and games throughout the season; game attendance may require travel based on schedule.
- Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
- Model good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators.
- Follow TAPPS guidelines.
- Participate in special activities including senior night, athletic banquet, and pep rallies.
- Assist the head coach with eligibility, inventory, and other related paperwork.
- Attend staff meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
- Thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to remain professional and collected regardless of circumstances with students, parents, staff, or opposing teams.
- Ability to consistently follow the mission of St. Anthony Catholic High School.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Required Education High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required Work Experience Two (2) years of girls’ assistant/head basketball coaching experience at the high school level OR two (2) years of AAU coaching experience at U‑16 level or higher. High school or collegiate playing experience in this sport will be considered in lieu of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- UIL & TAPPS experience at HS level.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
- CPR certified or CPR certification within 15 days of hire.
- First Aid certified or ability to obtain within 15 days of hire.
- Regular practice hours Mon–Fri after school (school days only) from 3:30–5:30 PM.
- All games, both weekday and weekend mandatory.
- Special activity mandatory attendance based on schedule, including senior night, athletic banquet, parents’ night, and pep rallies.
- Ability to lift sports equipment weighing up to 50 lbs waist high.
- Ability to effectively move about to demonstrate plays and drills during practice and to sideline coach during games.
- Ability to actively engage in games and events for extended periods of time.
- Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to engage faculty, staff, parents, and students.
