Head Volleyball Coach – Incarnate Word High School

Incarnate Word High School, a Catholic all‑girls school sponsored by the Sisters of Charity, seeks a Part‑time Head Volleyball Coach for the 2026‑2027 school year. The coach will be responsible for developing a comprehensive Volleyball program that promotes athletic excellence, teamwork, sportsmanship, and Catholic values. The Head Coach reports directly to the Athletic Director.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive Volleyball program that promotes athletic excellence, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while reflecting the values of the Catholic faith.
• Cultivate a positive and supportive team culture that encourages each athlete to reach their full potential, build resilience, and nurture a love for the sport.
• Foster a sense of community and camaraderie among team members while promoting compassion, kindness, and service to others.
• Provide expert coaching, guidance, and mentorship to help athletes improve their performance, develop skills, and achieve goals.
• Collaborate with school administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure alignment with the school's mission and values.
• Represent the school and athletic program in a professional and respectful manner, both on and off campus.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field (e.g., Physical Education, Sports Management).
• Minimum of 3–5 years of high‑school or higher‑level coaching experience.
• Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
• Must possess thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of Volleyball.
• Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents and students.
• Understanding of the mission of the Sisters of Charity and Incarnate Word High School.
• Successful completion of VIRTUS and background check.

• Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by IWHS.
• Hold organizational meetings, prospect portfolios and encourage potential athletes to participate.
• Assess students’ skills and assign team positions.
• Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time for both individual and team development.
• Work with the Athletic Director in scheduling games, facilities and transportation for practices and competition.
• Supervise student-athletes during games and travel.
• Promote a safe and positive athletic environment.
• Assign duties to the assistant coaching staff as necessary.
• Coach and instruct students, individual or in groups, regarding rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Observe athletes during competition and practice to determine needs for individual or team improvement.
• Determine game strategy based on the team’s capabilities.
• Establish and maintain standards for behavior and provide proper supervision of students.
• Monitor academic performances of team members to ensure eligibility and encourage high academic standards.
• Follow established procedures in the event of an injury.
• Confer with parents/guardians as necessary regarding academic, behavioral, or athletic performance.
• Follow all TAPPS regulations and by laws.
• Follow all IWHS policies and procedures.
• Act as a team representative and promote the Volleyball program.
• Follow established procedures for proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies and uniforms.
• Participate in special activities: parents’ night, banquets, awards night, pep assemblies.
• Work with the Athletic Director on eligibility, equipment inventory and other related paperwork.
• Collaborate with the Advancement office to promote IWHS and Volleyball to prospective middle‑school students.
• Attend athletic meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
• Other duties as assigned.
