Job Summary

The Family Support Specialist supervisor is responsible for providing supervision and support to staff to ensure that quality services, best practice and professional judgment are provided to clients served in compliance with established state and federal standards. This position also provides direct services as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise a team of 2 or more daily, providing ongoing support, consultation, training and quality assurance.
  • Complete consultation as outlined in the quality assurance plan, provide written feedback to staff, and provide recommendations to the Program Director/Director regarding job performance.
  • Implement developmental plans as needed for staff, and ensure the team has what they need to meet their job responsibilities.
  • Complete required contract reporting and tracking of information.
  • Provide individual and family sessions using Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Strengthening Families Program (SFP).
  • Provide case management support through coordinating referrals, service planning and documentation of services for assigned caseload.
  • Provide crises intervention during work hours and after hours as needed. Participate on-call to provide crisis intervention services responding promptly and professionally to crises calls using independent judgement and discretion.
  • Develop, monitor, and review action plans designed to increase strengths, address needs, and reduce conflict in the home.
  • Assist in emergency shelter placements and/or finding respite care when determined appropriate.
  • Mandated Reporter - Report any suspected abuse or neglect to the program supervisor and all appropriate state and county enforcement agencies.
  • Coordinate staff meetings, in-service training and UCAP events.
  • Participate in weekly face to face or phone supervision with the supervisor.
  • Frequent travel is required for training, home visits and to provide quality assurance for the team.
  • Meet all deadlines required by program supervisor and state/federal partners.
Measurable Deliverables
  • Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.
  • Maintain a caseload in accordance with agency policies and procedures and licensing and contract standards.
  • Provide services to youth ages 6-18 (or until youth graduates from high school) and their families.
  • Offer individual, family and group sessions to assigned families as appropriate.
  • Educate on skills necessary for conflict resolution, anger management, parenting, etc. as needed.
  • Complete quality assurance items including shadowing staff, reviewing case files and client satisfaction tools.
  • Conduct follow up calls and/or visits to youth/families in crises situations.
  • Compile, prepare, submit, and maintain accurate records, files, forms, and additional information in accordance with agency policies, licensing and/or contract requirements.
  • Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by position supervisor.
  • Implement BCFS safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
  • Maintain BCFS HHS professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with the required dress code, at all times.
  • Demonstrate the ability to: respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English.
