Under the immediate direction of the Senior/ Lead Mechanic, the Diesel Mechanic performs repairs on mobile equipment, including ready mix trucks, front end loaders, and trailers. 60/40 work split between Shop and mobile repairs at Concrete Ready-Mix plants.

• Observe and listen to trucks in operation to determine malfunctions.
• Use diagnostic software to perform advanced troubleshooting.
• Read manuals, use hand tools and power tools to repair and maintain electrical systems, power transmissions, brakes, drive lines and other automotive systems.
• Replace rollers and other wear items as required.
• Perform welding, repair and fabrication.
• Assist Senior Mechanic as needed.
• Perform data entry on all services performed.
• Operate mobile equipment as needed.
• Deliver technical advice to Ready Mix Truck Drivers and other mobile equipment operators.
• Maintain parts inventory and order parts and supplies as needed.
• Demonstrate knowledge of lock out/tag out procedures required during certain procedures.
• May make service calls at other plants or perform emergency roadside repairs as needed.
• Assist with training co-workers as needed.
• Conduct general cleanup of work areas and follow safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in the shop safety program and conduct tailgate safety meetings.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent GED required
  • Minimum 5 years Mobile Equipment Maintenance Experience;
    Ready Mix Maintenance Experience preferred
  • Trade School or related mechanical/technical certification
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) and safe driving record preferred
• Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Knowledge of repair and maintenance of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, transmissions, brakes, drive lines and other automotive systems
  • Basic welding skills
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • 40 hours per week with overtime as needed

• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
• Ability to operate hand and foot controls
• Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching and use vibration tools
• Ability to lie on back or fit into cramped spaces as needed
• Work in areas with potential for high noise levels
• Work is performed approximately 50% outdoors and 50% indoors
