Aircraft Mechanic - Structures (contract)

This posting is for a contract assignment and is not a full‑time employment offer with Boeing. Candidates selected for roles will be employed as contract workers through a Boeing‑approved third party for the duration of the specified project.

The Boeing Company is seeking structures mechanics to support the VC‑25B Program in San Antonio, TX.

Selected Candidates Will Have
  • 4+ years of on‑aircraft heavy structures experience. Please specify aircraft platform experience and years of experience with aircraft heavy structures on your resume.
  • Demonstrated experience on close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures, including doublers, triplers, seat tracks, planks, stringers, etc.
  • Ability to obtain customer approval for aircraft access. Dual citizenship or prior citizenship of any other country may preclude the ability to obtain access.
Position Responsibilities
  • Perform close‑tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas.
  • Locate blind holes necessary for installation of new structural items into existing structure.
  • Execute sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation activities in accordance with standard repair processes.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modification or repair.
  • Access and manipulate computer systems daily for work instructions, drawings, and training.
  • Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot‑level modification and repair of structural parts.
  • Solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturers’ manuals.
  • Guide lower‑level technicians through all aircraft modifications and maintenance efforts.
  • Operate forklift, mobile crane, and riding‑type electric powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignments.
  • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work.
  • Work various shifts and an alternate baseline schedule that may change to support mission requirements, including weekends and holidays. Mission requirements may require both scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
Ability to Perform the Following Requirements
  • Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds.
  • Work on elevated platforms with exposure to noise.
  • Use personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hand, and arms as required.
  • Pass visual acuity and color perception tests.
  • Read, write, and comprehend the English language.
  • Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous material.
  • Obtain and maintain training certifications as required to support assignment responsibilities.
  • Occasional finger manipulation and occasional 2‑person lift for weights greater than 50 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching overhead, walking on flat surfaces, standing on flat or uneven surfaces, balancing on a ladder, steps, or uneven surfaces, climbing on 3‑12 ft ladders or stands, rotating head/neck, sitting, crawling, squatting, bending/stooping, lying down, and operating foot controls for extended periods.
  • Frequent exposure to noise and occasional contact with metals.
Basic Qualifications (required skills/experience)
  • 4+ years of experience in heavy structures, including aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel.
  • Experience working with non‑porous metals and performing schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures analysis.
  • Proficiency with structural hand tools such as 45°/90° drills, pancake adapters, counter‑sink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns.
  • Ability to locate, drill, counter‑sink, and fasten structures such as doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks.
  • Knowledge of shop mathematics and practices.
  • Computer skills including aircraft‑related systems and basic office software.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain customer approval for access; dual citizenship or prior citizenship of another country may preclude this.
  • Background check will be conducted covering personal and business finances, residences, employment history, drug use, prior military service, and criminal behavior.
