Aircraft Mechanic — Keep Mission-Critical Aircraft Flying Strong

Location: San Antonio, TX

Schedule: Monday to Friday | Must be available for variable 1st and 2nd shifts based on business needs

Job Type: Full-Time Consultant (9 Months)

Pay Rate: $43.05/hour ($37.96 base + $5.09 H&W)

Work Environment: 100% Onsite

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to hire an experienced Aircraft Mechanic to support C-17 aircraft operations in San Antonio, TX. In this hands-on role, you will maintain, repair, and modify aircraft systems and structures that are essential to operational readiness and mission success. Your expertise will directly contribute to aircraft safety, performance, and reliability.

• Maintain, repair, and modify aircraft structures and structural components
• Troubleshoot and repair aircraft systems including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions using airframe and power plant systems
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, blueprints, process specifications, and manufacturer manuals
• Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, installation, and removal on critical and fracture-critical structures
• Locate blind holes and perform structural modifications on existing aircraft
• Complete sealing, painting, shimming, and corrosion prevention in accordance with standard repair processes
• Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level aircraft modification and repair
• Assist team members across mechanical, avionics, and electrical disciplines to meet cost and schedule objectives
• Ensure safe working conditions through proper application of hazardous energy control and lockout/tagout procedures

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 4 years of experience performing aircraft maintenance and structural/mechanical repair duties
• Experience using basic hand tools in a technical or mechanical environment
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and engineering drawings
• Ability to work variable shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements, including climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, lifting up to 35 lbs, and using personal protective equipment
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
• This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies:
  1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or
  2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
• Ability to pass required training assessments and maintain certifications

• Experience working on C-17 aircraft
• Aircraft heavy maintenance experience
• Ability to operate forklifts and electric-powered elevating equipment

Pay Details: $43.05 per hour
