Primary

Purpose:

Under general supervision, assist in maintaining and providing for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

* High school diploma or GED

* Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record

* Must have a satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by candidate

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

* Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques

* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material

* Ability to use hand and power tools

* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

* Ability to pass alcohol and drug test

Experience:

* One-three years in plumbing field

Responsibilities and Duties:

General

Maintenance and Repair

* Install and do minor repair on faucets, fixtures, and drains.

* Receives and complete work orders as issued under supervision of a journeyman plumber.

* Retrieve parts and tools as needed.

* Assists licensed maintenance worker in all facets of commercial plumbing repair and remodeling.

* Assist in the repair or installation of irrigation systems.

Safety

* Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.

* Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

* Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.

* Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.

* Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise general maintenance worker when assigned.

Equipment Used:

Hand and power tools;
Pipe bender;
Propane torch;
Soldering equipment;
Sewer rooter. Light truck or van.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent district wide travel.
