Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Plumber
Description
The role of the Plumber is the responsibility for the installation and maintenance of plumbing and drainage systems. Works throughout the Facility, which may include limited access areas. Responds to routine, emergency work orders and performs ongoing preventive maintenance programs for assigned equipment. Participates in new project installations. Completes all required documentation according to department program within scheduled time frames. Other duties from time to time may require light duty maintenance, light moving and new product installation.
Expected to respond to emergency calls in (Equipment failure, Floods, etc.).
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in commercial structures.
- Collaborate with general contractors, electricians, and other construction professionals.
- Follow building plans and blueprints.
- Respond to, diagnose, and resolve plumbing emergencies.
- Perform routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems.
- Prepare bids, budgets, and cost estimates.
- Keep accurate records of time spent working, description of work performed, and materials used.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- 1-3 years’ experience as a journeyman plumber
- Valid driver’s license
- Must have own tools
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools used in the plumbing trade
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and rough drawings
- Familiarity with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper
- Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to complete projects unsupervised and unassisted
- Excellent problem‑solving skills
- Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency in basic mathematics and conversion of measurements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to fingers, handle, and feel, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

The employees are regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places; extreme heat and cold. While employee is performing regular duties they are also exposed to possible risk of electrical shock.
