What

YOU Will Do

Perform electrical maintenance and component replacement on commercial aircraft, following technical manuals and supervisor instructions. Ensure safe work practices, maintain tools and a clean work area, and keep accurate records of completed tasks. Provide training to junior mechanics, complete required courses, and carry out additional duties as assigned.

In This Role, You Will
  • Proper use of safety equipment and hand tools.
  • Correct handling of parts tags and familiarity with VT San Antonio Aerospace Inspection Procedure Manual.
  • Skilled in crimping, wire extraction/insertion, heat‑shrink tubing, and wire marking.
  • General knowledge of aircraft manuals, ATA codes, wiring schematics, and maintenance procedures.
  • Understanding and application of IPC and Wiring Practices Manual (Chapter 20).
  • Knowledge of bonding and grounding procedures.
  • Ability to identify wires, wire bundles, and harnesses.
  • Proficient in lacing and tying wire bundles.
  • Skilled in using multi‑meters for continuity tests and proper crimping procedures for all contact types.
  • Operation of reader printers and familiarity with applicable FARs and company policies.
  • Knowledge of paperwork processes including job cards, time cards, routine/non‑routine cards, SRMs, service bulletins, and work sign‑off procedures.
  • Remove and replace various aircraft components and electrical systems with the use of special tooling and ground support equipment, following oral and written instructions such as supervisor’s directives and manuals to complete all routine and non‑routine assignments in a timely manner.
  • Perform the duties of and provide necessary training for lower skill levels.
  • Maintain and store various tools in a serviceable condition.
  • Adhere to safe maintenance practices and keep a clean work area.
  • Maintain and supply personal records of work performed on OJT forms for the Training Department.
  • Successfully complete any courses deemed necessary by the Training Department.
  • Perform any work that may be assigned by his or her supervisor.
Perform Operational/Functional Test Of
  • Flight deck control and indication.
  • Primary flight/Navigation/Engine display systems.
  • Radio management system.
  • VHF/HF communication system.
  • Satellite Communications (SATCOM) system.
  • Pitot Static System.
  • Service interphone/Ground crew call/Flight interphone systems.
  • IFE/Wi‑Fi Systems.
  • Cabin/Exterior lights.
  • Software Upload/Downloads.
  • Navigation systems.
What YOU Need
  • Works under general direction with some discretion in methods and procedures.
  • Requires moderate interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with team members and supervisors.
  • Must have mobility and dexterity to access various aircraft sections and perform component removal/replacement.
  • Ability to cope with stress and long working hours; quick mental skills required.
  • Must be able to hear for safety purposes and distinguish colors accurately.
  • Requires standing for 90% of the workday on hard surfaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maintain regular attendance.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; license preferred.
  • Minimum 0–2 years of experience in heavy commercial avionics maintenance.
  • Expected to adhere to all company policies and procedures.
