SPRINKLER SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Job Description
  • Diagnoses fire sprinkler system performance through observation, testing and setup
  • Disassembles and reassembles sprinkler systems to perform troubleshooting and preventative maintenance
  • Operates hand tools, power tools, gauges and measuring equipment to perform service to the system
  • Completes work orders, task lists and documents to verify work performed as needed to conform to customer invoicing requirements
  • Completes documentation of invoicing data based on hours worked and materials or equipment used to perform the service
  • Explains the service charges and work performed to the satisfaction of the customer
  • Reconciles work order documents, vendor packing slips and weekly timesheets for supervisor review
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ensure timely and complete submittal of JSAs, toolbox talks, audit forms, etc.
  • Ensure timely and accurate incident and accident reporting
  • Hold yourself accountable for all safety initiatives
  • Hold yourself accountable for safe driving of company vehicles
  • Ensure awareness and support of stop work authority
  • Complete all training requirements – safety, certifications, etc.
  • Submit accurate timesheet – job numbers/names, OT and travel pay, completed on time, etc., support transition to electronic timesheet submittal
  • Ensure all required documents are complete, accurate and professional, with required signatures
  • Ensure proper inventory management – review, update, and approve packing slips – submitted timely, proper material management
  • Ensure proper maintenance and care of equipment – trucks, lifts, tools, etc.
  • Keep jobsites clean and organized
  • Ensure production efficiency – awareness of budget vs. actual labor hours and proactive communication with superintendent
  • Support and ensure adherence to company SOPs – purchase orders, change orders, etc.
  • Timeliness – at the job on time; attendance; communication with supervisor; paperwork
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and respond to customer satisfaction survey feedback improvement opportunities
  • Maintain quality control i.e. reduce the need for return trips and warranty work
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Communicate effectively and professionally within the department and with internal and external customers
  • Teamwork – maintain positive interactions within your team, local office, etc.
  • Actively participate in required team meetings
  • Ability to work overtime, out of town or on-call as needed
Knowledge
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
  • Ability to maintain ongoing required continued education, professional licenses and/or certifications as required by the position
  • Diagnostic ability as demonstrated through prior experience and/or training
Work Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience to include service experience on wet, dry, pre‑action and deluge sprinkler systems
Skills And Competencies
  • Ability to maintain proper documentation on provided electronic device for work performed
  • Ability to meet requirements of company vehicle driving policy which includes a valid Driver’s License and a motor vehicle record in good standing
  • Ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle as evidenced by past driving performance record and to adhere to all company safety requirements
  • Ability to competently use a variety of gauges, meters, measuring instruments, hand and power tools and equipment
  • Ability to effectively communicate with peers, supervisors and the customer
  • Good math, verbal, written skills as well as good interpersonal skills
  • Basic to moderate computer skills are desired
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings
  • Ability to follow specific directions (written/verbal), perform a changing variety of duties, repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure and work within precise limits and standards of numerical accuracy
  • Ability to meet customer requirements and maintain an acceptable customer satisfaction rating
