Assistant Store Leader

Job Summary

The Assistant Store Leader (ASL) supports the Store Leader in achieving financial success and maintaining the highest standards of customer service and brand presentation. The ASL coaches the team, drives sales, manages day‑to‑day operations, and ensures a consistent, engaging customer experience.

Responsibilities
  • Client & Service Expert
    • Develop clientele by coaching the team on proactive outreach and relationship building.
    • Partner with the Store Leader to design initiatives that increase repeat business or attract new customers.
    • Ensure associates use their client books and conduct monthly reviews to boost sales.
    • Maintain compliance with clientele standards and the thank‑you note program.
    • Oversee completion of the sales training program.
    • Model and supervise the selling environment, providing consistent coaching on sales processes.
  • Leadership Presence / Steward of Talent
    • Assist the Store Leader in achieving financial targets through measurable results.
    • Act as the Store Leader in their absence.
    • Lead by example and set personal sales goals.
    • Educate the team on sales plans and measurable stats, coaching to maximize business.
    • Network in the community to fill open positions efficiently.
    • Conduct ongoing reviews and assessments of employee performance.
  • Building Brand Equity
    • Communicate the Kate Spade New York brand aesthetic and philosophy to the sales team and customers.
    • Ensure brand and operating standards are met for consistency.
    • Implement visual merchandising directives and maintain store presentation standards.
    • Report merchandise sell‑through, stock position, and product issues to the Store Leader.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Supervise store opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and bank deposits.
    • Assist with payroll budget, schedule adjustments, and loss‑prevention policies.
    • Ensure accurate processing of all POS transactions to protect inventory and assets.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years management experience in a comparable retail environment.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Prior luxury goods experience preferred.
  • Professional sales development and exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities and effective communication at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to analyze sales reports, identify trends, and respond quickly.
  • Comfortable making decisions and mediating conflict within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Windows‑based software such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Physical requirements:

    available for the store schedule (including evenings and weekends), able to stand extended periods, lift boxes up to 40 lb, and climb ladders.

Pay Range

Base Pay Range: $18.50 – $31.50 per hour. Tapestry will comply with minimum wage requirements and other applicable pay laws.
