General PurposeThe Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store and for general operations and supervision when serving as Manager on Duty. Duties include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining merchandise presentation, ensuring a clean work environment, and executing as required corporate operational processes.
Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments- Safety is the number one priority and safe‑behaviour practices are employed.
- Maintain high awareness on the sales floor; correct or report unsafe conditions; ensure security of building, including entry/exit control, EAS devices, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Ensure customer safety by accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all customers, associates and leaders with respect, courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Recognize associates using company recognition programs.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the dress code; ensure associates adhere to it.
- Maintain store cleanliness, merchandising to standard, and daily trash removal.
- Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns are executed to company standards.
- Receive merchandise trucks and process all inbound deliveries (signs, supplies, etc.).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of stockrooms; ensure back‑stock is secured and processed.
- Assist with floor moves, signing and re‑wraps.
- Follow the Loss Prevention Awareness Program; maintain customer service presence on the floor.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty; safeguard confidential information; keep PVM system maintained.
- Conduct "Code 50" package inspections; execute best practices to maximize productivity.
- Ensure Associates use front‑end procedures and equipment correctly.
- Maintain pace, energy and presence; manage line to reduce wait time.
- Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control, and front‑end procedures.
- Control break schedules; maintain supplies; ensure go‑backs are properly processed.
- Maintain and clean fitting rooms and garment tags.
- Ensure compliance with go‑back procedures for returns.
- Cash pulls and bank deposits according to policy.
- Assist front‑end control, refund approvals, associate purchase approvals, safe procedures, and payroll administration.
