- The Deli Manager ensures that store conditions comply with company policies and procedures, and state and federal laws are maintained and followed. This includes maintaining store cleanliness, brand standards, customer service, ensuring products are fresh, available, and appealing, protecting company assets, food safety, thereby maximizing store profitability.
- Foster a coaching environment where team members are encouraged to excel and are recognized for their achievements.
- Create and foster a guest- and sales-focused environment by training team to greet all guests, presell, upsell, and suggestive-sell required items.
- Provide prompt, courteous customer service by identifying customer needs and offering management support.
- Manage food services in accordance with Department of Health and Company Standards.
- Responsible for ordering products, counting inventory, and adhering to build tos and planograms per company standards; maintain inventory and waste levels accordingly.
- Plan and prepare work schedules based on business needs; supervise coverage of shifts and fill as needed.
- Analyze financial data to identify business opportunities and determine action plans to increase sales and profitability.
- Manage food costs at required levels; follow approved portioning and accounting procedures.
- Analyze restaurant results and trends to determine action plans to drive sales and address areas for improvement; maintain 100% in-stock efficiency on top-selling items.
- Oversee and assist in preparing food items per menus and recipes; inspect food and preparation to maintain quality standards and sanitation.
- Conduct daily and weekly safety inspections of food service equipment to ensure optimal operation conditions.
- Respond to, report, and follow up on all employee and/or customer accidents, injuries, and loss or damage to property.
- Maintain health guidelines to ensure food safety is the top priority.
- Check display for neatness and customer appeal; ensure all authorized signs are displayed.
- Maintain working relationships with vendors; monitor delivery procedures, ensure order accuracy, and report problems to management.
- Recruit, hire, train, and coach team members to develop top-performing staff.
- Ensure team members are knowledgeable on product offerings and promotions; coach and supervise store responsibilities and handle difficult situations by fostering a team environment.
- Evaluate and take disciplinary actions as needed for policy violations.
- Use tools provided to manage the restaurant efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain a neat personal appearance in accordance with company policy.
- Performs other duties as needed; ensure attendance in compliance with company expectations.
Education/Experience
- Must be at least 18 years or older to apply. A two-year degree or higher is strongly preferred. A minimum of one year of retail, fast food, or sales management experience is required. Must maintain Food Handlers and Food Safety Certification as required by the company. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Knowledge and Skills
- Proven success developing team members. Demonstrated ability to use P&L and store reports to affect change.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Excellent oral and written communication and intrapersonal skills.
- Ability to write routine reports and to speak effectively before customers and employees.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and work with measurements; proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. PDI experience preferred.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; the employee is occasionally required to climb or balance on a ladder or stool, kneel or crouch; the employee must occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
