The Cambria Hotel in Detroit is expanding and looking for Production Cooks to join our team!

- State-of-theart fitness center - Locally inspired designs.
Accurately and efficiently cook food products and prepare and portion food products prior to cooking. Prepare and cook to order a variety of foods that require only a short preparation time.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Perform food preparation tasks, such as making sandwiches, carving meats, making soups or salads, dips, and charcuterie.
- Perform general cleaning activities in kitchen and dining areas.
- Restock kitchen supplies, rotate food, and stamp the time and date on food in coolers.
- Grill, cook, and fry foods such as fries, eggs, and pancakes.
- Grill and garnish hamburgers or other meats, such as steaks and chops.
- Prepares a variety of food items for cooking in griddles, ovens, grills, fryers, and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
- Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products served.
- Clean food preparation equipment, work areas, and counters or tables.
- Knows and complies consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
- Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
- Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen.
- Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic understanding of or ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
- Basic understanding of or ability to learn food-handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently and quickly.
- Must be able to work well as part of a team.
- Must be able to work well under pressure.
- Ability to maintain personal cleanliness.
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
- At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift 40 pounds.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
