Job Description
Parsons is seeking a Biostatistician II to support Naval Medical Research Unit – San Antonio (NAMRU‑SA) and its collaborating institutions. The role provides advanced statistical expertise for research projects, ensuring scientifically‑sound study designs and accurate data analysis. Responsibilities include authoring statistical analysis plans, training researchers, and developing research proposals for grant submissions.
What You’ll Be DoingProvide statistical support and advice to Principal Investigators in the writing of research proposals, IACUC protocols, IRB protocols, manuscripts, and technical reports.
Work with research staff to develop scientifically‑sound study designs and write the statistical section of research protocols, manuscripts, and technical reports.
Generate datasets, tables, figures, and listings to support the analysis of data using SAS and/or approved statistical programs.
Perform quality control checks of SAS or other statistical programs in use.
Handle complex SAS programming issues as required.
Provide and/or verify sample size calculations, including power analyses.
Provide and/or verify calculation of results data, including statistical analysis selection and explanation of use (e.g., Student’s t‑test, ANOVA).
Author statistical analysis plans, including development of table, figure, and listing shells.
Provide assistance with quality control of statistical analyses in research documents (e.g., presentations, manuscripts, grants), including in support of command‑authored works clearance.
Assist with completion of statistical activities for study within timelines.
Train and mentor PIs and researchers on best practices for biostatistics in research.
Develop research proposals in collaboration with PIs for grant submission.
Master’s degree in Biostatistics or related field and five (5) years of research‑related experience (including with SAS or other approved software), or PhD in Biostatistics or related field and one (1) year of research‑related experience.
Demonstrated ability to provide advanced statistical support and develop scientifically‑sound study designs.
Proficiency in authoring statistical analysis plans and performing quality control checks using SAS or approved statistical programs.
Strong skills in training and mentoring researchers on biostatistical best practices.
Excellent communication skills for collaborating on research proposals and supporting research documents.
