PositionDescription
The Quality Control Manager (QCM) implements and manages the QC program alongside the project superintendent. The QCM coordinates multiple QC engineers, works closely with PM and PS to resolve QC issues, participates in regional quality control efforts, and ensures safety compliance. This is a safety‑sensitive position.
Essential Duties- Participate in start‑up and implementation of the six‑step quality control/safety process and site‑specific quality program.
- Lead the weekly QC meetings and assist with preparation of meeting agendas.
- Maintain the project quality process log (QPL).
- Interface directly with owners' quality assurance and management on all quality‑related issues.
- Review initial and follow‑up inspection reports, punch‑list items, and close‑in inspection results.
- Ensure knowledge of contract, plans, specifications, and applicable codes; review and submit RFIs.
- Receive trade partner test and inspection requests and create a coordinated schedule.
- Document and submit daily quality‑control activity reports.
- Audit trade partner quality control procedures and report chronic problems.
- Participate in selection and verification of outside testing contractors and coordinate third‑party testing agencies.
- Evaluate and develop QC personnel.
- A 4‑year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5‑7 years of experience on large commercial construction projects.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel), Prolog, Primavera, and AutoCAD.
- Moderate work: lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 25 lbs frequently, up to 10 lbs constantly.
- Requires walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, stooping, and standing.
- Regular computer use and interaction with office machinery.
- Frequent communication with employees and external stakeholders.
- Constant reading of written communications and blueprints.
- Exposure to climbing, balancing, stooping, visual acuity required.
- Occasional exposure to high/low temperatures, noise, and weather elements.
