Position Summary: The Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Assurance Manager and maintains and improves the quality level of material received from outside vendors and of internally finished products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Document material non-conformances and lead material resolution/disposition process.
- Prepare Corrective Action Request (CAR) reports and process returns to vendors.
- Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
- Process First Article Samples (FAS); perform FAS inspection, confirm conformance to design, and prepare audit reports for FAS disposition.
- Oversee audits of in-process and final products; conduct visual and functional tests to verify conformance of products to design and quality standards, identify and document the root cause of any non-conformance, and implement corrective actions as appropriate.
- Maintain measurement equipment.
- Respond to customer complaints, including processing Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs), perform root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining control plans, calibration status, and procedures.
- Lead the team to reduce scrap and COPQ.
Skills and Abilities
:
- Detail oriented with a logical and methodical approach.
- Exceptional documentation skills and attention to accuracy when taking and recording measurements
- Competence with measurement equipment.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be tactful and use discretion to point out problems to co-workers.
- Ability to learn new processes, procedures, and tasks will be required for success in the job.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of staff from hourly workers to company executives.
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- 1 year Quality Control experience.
- Experience working in an ISO 9000 environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly required to sit, walk, and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. is required.
- Work will be performed in a manufacturing environment.
