Under a Registered Nurse’s supervision, provides nursing care for a group of patients, based on matching the patients’ needs with the LVN’s competencies. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum EducationGraduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing.
Preferred Education Minimum ExperienceNone
Preferred ExperienceLVN in an acute care setting.
Required Certifications / LicensurePossession of current Texas State License for Licensed Vocational Nurse
Preferred Certifications / Licensure Required Courses / Completions (e.g., CPR)- Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
- AHA PALS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (EMERGENCY ROOM)
- S.T.A.B.L.E. – Level 2 Nursery‑Must provide proof of prior completion or obtain within 6 months of hire or transfer date into unit (Renewal is not required).
- Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (BEHAVIORAL HEALTH and EMERGENCY ROOM)
