Description:

The ICU RN provides comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult patients.
Patients require continuous monitoring, advanced interventions, and complex clinical decision-making.
The RN acts as a patient advocate and clinical expert.
The role involves collaboration within a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Direct nursing care must align with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
Nursing care includes managing patients on mechanical ventilation, vasoactive infusions, and invasive monitoring.
Ongoing patient assessments and reassessments are essential.
The RN interprets and responds to cardiac rhythms, lab results, arterial blood gases, and hemodynamic data.
Medications must be titrated according to provider orders and unit protocols.
Subtle changes in patient conditions should be identified with timely interventions initiated.
Emergency situations, including codes and rapid deterioration, must be managed effectively.
The patient population includes cases of CHF, sepsis, septic shock, respiratory failure, and more.
This unit is nurse-driven, with critical care physicians available via phone for consultation.
Communication among multidisciplinary team members occurs through a connected mobile platform.
