USPI Gastro Consultants of San Antonio – Stone Oak is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to join our team. We have 1 OR room and 3 Procedure rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Gastroenterology.
Position requires weekdays only – no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for planning, executing, directing and evaluating direct and indirect nursing care given to patients. The nursing care ranges from preoperative intervention, intraoperative and postoperative evaluation while meeting the patient’s needs and ensuring continuity of care.
Responsibilities- Perform all nursing duties in accordance with the state Nursing Practice Act, while adhering to all facility policies and procedures.
- Actively demonstrate a working knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, principles, and practice to care for the patient.
- Perform routine nursing care while utilizing age‑specific and universal precaution practices at all times.
- Monitor patient progress and identify any changes in status, acting on those changes to ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Assist physicians and all healthcare professionals caring for patients, always giving a complete and thorough report on patient status throughout the procedure process.
- Communicate with all staff, patients, and families with excellent written and verbal skills.
- Consistently seek educational tools to broaden knowledge base of various age groups, diseases, and best practices.
- Collaborate with the Infection Control Committee to prevent and identify potential for infections.
- Support and demonstrate continuous improvement of quality and service excellence.
- May perform other tasks as assigned.
- Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Must have at least 1–3 years of previous experience.
- Must have current BLS, ALS and PALS certifications.
- Must possess strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient.
- Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed.
- Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians.
- Prior experience in an Ambulatory Surgical Center is strongly preferred.
