Freestanding Emergency Room Registered Nurse at Methodist Healthcare System. The RN coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the department's requirements and the standards of practice for the state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other care team members, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.”

The RN serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers and models the organization’s vision, mission, and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes.

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Delivers exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests and anticipated needs.
• Teaches patients, families, and caregivers about medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology for understanding.
• Educates patients and families about non-medical follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes; prepares for future self-management.

• 6 Months RN experience required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• RN (Registered Nurse) license
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, or Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or equivalent degree (RN Diploma, Associate or Bachelor’s degree) must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date

Methodist ER Helotes opened spring 2021 to serve the Far Northwest and surrounding areas. We are a 24/7 freestanding emergency center. This 7,029 square foot facility includes 7 all-private treatment rooms and a full range of services including radiology, a full-service laboratory, and telemetry. We provide immediate intervention for emergencies where treatment time is critical, including 24-hour monitoring and testing for chest pain cases.

Our compassionate team stabilizes critical patients and transports to a Methodist hospital in San Antonio when hospitalization is needed.
