Licensed Practical / Vocational Nurse – LPN/LVN

Our local office is looking for a team of compassionate nurses to provide care for a very special client/patient. Here are some of the details of this case; more can be discussed by applying or contacting the local office.

Schedule: Any nights Monday-Friday (6:30p-6:30a)

Location/Setting: San Antonio, TX 78245

Age Range: Child

Acuity: Feeding tube & medication administration, training provided

Qualifications:

  • Must have and maintain an active, unencumbered license (LPN/LVN) in the state where the clinician will practice.
  • Compact licenses must be transferred to your state of residence within 90 days.
  • Current CPR certification (hands‑on component). Aveanna can assist in obtaining this after hire if necessary.
  • TB skin test current within last 12 months.
  • Six months prior hands‑on nursing experience preferred but not required.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Delivery and coordination of quality patient care in compliance with physician orders.
  • Observe and assess patient condition and care needs continuously and report changes to supervisor/physician as appropriate.
  • Document all activities, assessments, nursing actions, responses, and coordination of care in a timely manner.
  • Participate, implement, and update the nursing care plan.
  • Takes appropriate nursing action based on assessment and achieves expected outcomes.
  • Recognize changes in patient needs and responses that require intervention; implement care to prevent or reduce risk.
  • Accept responsibility for personal and professional accountability by complying with Aveanna policies, state and federal regulations, accrediting bodies, and the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Provide care utilizing infection control measures that protect staff and patient according to OSHA standards.
  • Educate patient and family regarding disease process, self‑care techniques, and prevention strategies.
  • Maintain knowledge of nursing competencies by participating in continuing education and internal programs.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current, unrestricted state license as a licensed nurse in the state of practice.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures.
  • State‑specific experience: one year of pediatrics for South Carolina; one year of experience working under current nursing license for California; one year of experience working as a licensed nurse for Louisiana.
  • Continuing education as required by state.

Additional Preferences:

  • Six months of recent experience as a licensed nurse in a clinical care setting.
  • Home health experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Speak, write, read, and understand English.
  • Travel ability.
  • Lift 50 pounds.
  • Reposition patients and move equipment without assistance.
  • Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting.
  • Sit and climb stairs.
  • Visual and hearing acuity; strong sense of smell and touch.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations in home or during transport.

  • Ability to function in various environments, including exposure to allergens, blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
