Summary
At the full performance level (GS-6) - delivers comprehensive patient care by collecting histories - recording vitals - completing clinical reminders - assisting exams - and administering medications. Monitors conditions - reports changes - supports complex procedures - and responds to urgent needs. Educates patients - mentors junior staff - protects sensitive data - and maintains professionalism in varied - fast-paced - and sometimes high-risk clinical settings
Duties- Total Rewards of an Allied Health Professional Full Performance Level (GS-6) Duties
- Monitor patients
- Identify changes and report significant findings to providers
- Respond to urgent or emergent situations and begin directed interventions
- Administer medications and observe for physical or emotional reactions
- Perform support duties for complex diagnostic tests and procedures
- Collect histories, complete clinical reminders, and assist in wellness and physical exams
- Record and trend vital signs and intake data for provider review
- Prepare patients for exams and help with diabetic foot checks and female wellness care
- Educate patients and families on care instructions and health needs
- Adapt care to age, cultural, cognitive, and emotional considerations
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and strong therapeutic relationships
- Precept and guide less experienced staff such as LPNs, NAs, and HTs
- Document patient information accurately in accordance with protocols
- Follow PACT protocols, standing orders, and primary care SOPs
- Protect sensitive health data and follow information security rules
- Deliver customer service and work cooperatively in team-based care settings
- Developmental Level (GS-5) Duties
- Deliver a full range of practical nursing care for varied conditions
- Prepare, administer, and document medications
- Observe and report patient responses to meds and treatments
- Identify and respond to changes in condition
- Assist in emergency measures and resuscitation
- Educate patients and families
- Support complex diagnostic tests and procedures
- Record vitals, intake histories, and clinical reminders
- Assist with physicals, female exams, and diabetic foot exams
- Mentor less experienced LPNs, NAs, and HTs
- Recognize equipment or safety hazards and report issues
- Interact with patients and families using strong service standards
- Document care accurately with minimal oversight
- Follow established protocols, orders, and policies
- Maintain data security, professionalism, and teamwork
- Developmental Level (GS-4) Duties
- Provide basic practical nursing care with less supervision
- Record and trend vital signs
- Assist with physicals and wellness exams
- Complete intake histories and clinical reminders
- Support diabetic foot exams
- Recognize and report changes in condition
- Provide patient and family education
- Deliver direct care safely in varied environments
- Use PPE and follow infection control rules
- Communicate with diverse patient populations
- Document care per policy
- Carry out duties with greater judgment than GS-3
- Apply established protocols and procedures
- Work cooperatively within the care team
- Maintain patient privacy, data security, and professionalism
- Entry Level (GS-3) Duties
- Assist with physical exams and wellness checks
- Record and report vital signs
- Support diabetic foot exams
- Gather intake histories
- Complete clinical reminders
- Assist with female wellness exams
- Provide basic patient education
- Observe and report simple changes in condition
- Deliver direct care within license limits
- Maintain safety and follow infection control rules
- Use PPE and work in varied clinical settings
- Communicate clearly with veterans and families
- Document care activities
- Follow guidance from RNs and providers
- Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday - 7:30am - 4:00pm (Tour of Duty and location may change due to patient care needs) - Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus):

Competitive salary and regular salary increases - When setting pay - a higher step rate for the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade)
- Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave - 13 days of sick leave - 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
- Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual - based on prior [work experience] or military service experience
