Qualifications

  • Active and unencumbered LPN/LVN license in the state of practice
  • Compact licenses transferred to your state of residence within 90 days
  • Current CPR certification (hands‑on);
    Aveanna can assist with obtaining it after hire
  • TB skin test current within last 12 months
  • Preferred:
    Six months prior hands‑on nursing experience
  • Reliable transportation

Position Overview

Provide and document skilled nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, following care plans and physician orders while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Essential Job Functions

  • Deliver and coordinate quality patient care in compliance with physician orders
  • Continuously observe and assess patient condition and needs; report changes appropriately
  • Document activities, assessments, nursing actions, responses, and coordination of care promptly
  • Participate in, implement, and update nursing care plans
  • Takes appropriate nursing action based on assessment to achieve expected outcomes
  • Recognizes changes requiring intervention and implements care to prevent or reduce risk
  • Complies with Aveanna policies, state and federal regulations, accrediting bodies, and the Nurse Practice Act
  • Use infection control measures to protect staff and patient per OSHA standards
  • Educate patient and family on disease process, self‑care, prevention, and nursing needs
  • Maintain competency through continuing education and skill evaluations

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current, unrestricted state license as a Licensed Nurse
  • Current CPR certification
  • Proficiency in clinical assessment, documentation, and compliance with nursing policies

Additional State‑Specific Requirements

  • South Carolina – One (1) year of pediatrics experience
  • California – One (1) year of experience under current nursing license
  • Louisiana – One (1) year of experience as a licensed nurse
  • Continuing education as required by state

Preferences

  • Six (6) months recent experience as a Licensed Nurse in a clinical care setting
  • Home health experience

Physical Requirements

  • Speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Travel ability
  • Lift up to 50 pounds and reposition patients and equipment without assistance
  • Coping with prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting
  • Sit and climb stairs
  • Good visual and hearing acuity; strong sense of smell and touch
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations in the home or during transport

Environment

  • Function in various environments, possibly exposing to allergens, blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases
