Infusion Nurse – Northeast San Antonio, TX

Overview

Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) at Maryland Oncology Hematology (Texas Oncology) will work full‑time Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am‑5:00 pm. The role has no weekends, on‑call shifts, or major holidays. The RN provides professional nursing care for patients receiving infusion therapies, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, and adheres to company standards, compliance programs, and reimbursement procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of care in line with established standards.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
  • Prepare and administer therapies under physician direction.
  • Administer medications and blood products using the correct dosage, route, time, and technique.
  • Obtain pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms prior to administering therapies.
  • Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician.
  • Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments.
  • Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • Minimum 0–3 years of RN experience.
  • Willing to consider entry, mid, or senior level candidates.
  • Current RN license in the applicable state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Working Conditions

The job is performed in an oncology/hematology clinic environment with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, radiation, medical preparations, and other related hazards. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

Physical Requirements

Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extended periods, and occasionally lifting up to 40 lb. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
