SummaryThe Registered Nurse under minimal supervision provides nursing care for a patient group assigned to the nurse based on matching patients’ needs with the nurse’s competencies. Completes established competencies for the position within a designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
EducationMinimum:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree.
Preferred:
Two years in acute care; previous clinical nursing experience.
Minimum:
Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse.
- Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
- AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (Labor & Delivery). Should be completed before the end of the orientation period.
- AHA NRP must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (Labor & Delivery or any nurse floated into L&D). Should be completed before the end of the orientation period.
- Fetal Monitoring – L&D and Antepartum:
Novice RNs must complete GNOSIS introduction to Fetal Heart Monitoring within 30 days from hire or transfer date into unit and AWHONN Intermediate Heart Monitoring within 8 months of L&D orientation. Experienced L&D RNs (>1 yr experience) must have AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring on hire or within the first 90 days of hire. - S.T.A.B.L.E. – Level 2 Nursery:
Must provide proof of prior completion or obtain within 6 months of hire or transfer date into unit (renewal not required). - AHA PALS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (Pediatrics).
