Summary

The grant writer is analytical, organized, collaborative and resourceful. The grant writer will proactively develop strong relationships with the program directors and finance staff to ensure timely and quality grant proposals and reports. The grant writer will prospect grant opportunities and lead the drafting and finalization of proposals, letters of interest, and their supplemental materials. Additionally, as part of the Mission Advancement team, the grant writer will support Mission Advancement team activities and provide assistance for fundraising and special events.

Position

Responsibilities
  • Research and identify viable grant opportunities.
  • Develop compelling and concise grant proposals, reports, letters of interest and all other materials associated with the applications.
  • Engage with program staff across Catholic Charities, Seton Home, and St. PJ’s Children’s Home to better learn the programs and gather critical information to enhance proposals and reports.
  • Develop and maintain database of foundations, federal, state and local grants that align with CCAOSA’s mission, vision, values and strategic goals.
  • Work closely with Grants Director and the finance staff on grant budgets.
  • Manage grant and reporting calendars to delineate timelines for submission, including internal and external deadlines.
  • Complete 3-6 grants weekly.
  • Submit weekly grant submission reports
  • Assists in coordinating fundraising efforts among the staff and community (e.g., annual campaigns, employee campaigns, special events).
  • Participates in agency committees as required, and when appropriate, is responsible for meetings by actively taking minutes, organizing and disseminating information.
  • Enhances skills through active growth via participation in meetings, seminars, and conferences.
  • Must complete all required professional development assigned in a timely manner.
  • Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory.
  • Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Grants.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Social Work, Communications or writing-related field required.
  • Experience in grant writing and/or technical writing and research is preferred or at least 1 year of experience in the nonprofit sector.

License and Credentials

  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver license
  • Valid vehicle insurance
  • Must have clean driving record
