Company DescriptionThe Center for Advanced Preparedness and Threat Response Simulation (CAPTRS) is a nonprofit organization that designs and delivers innovative serious games to help decision‑makers test strategies, practice coordination, and strengthen resilience before real-world emergencies occur. Our games are used by leaders in public health, emergency management, government, and related sectors to explore threats such as pandemics, natural disasters, attacks, and infrastructure failures.
We are a small, fully remote, entrepreneurial team with big ambitions. Every team member contributes strategically and creatively, and this role offers a meaningful opportunity to shape CAPTRS’ growth and how our products are positioned, marketed, and adopted.
Role DescriptionThe Marketing & Growth Manager will lead the development and execution of marketing campaigns that drive awareness, generate qualified leads, and convert interest into new business. This role is hands‑on and execution‑focused, combining product marketing, campaign management, and sales follow‑through.
Working closely with the SVP of Partnerships and SVP of Product, the position will translate CAPTRS’ games into compelling value propositions, manage inbound and outbound marketing efforts throughout the year, and close new clients generated through campaigns, conferences and outreach.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute marketing campaigns around CAPTRS' gaming products, including digital outreach, content and conference‑driven campaigns
- Develop and execute go‑to‑market plans for each product, positioning CAPTRS' games clearly for different markets
- Manage inbound leads
- Own the sales process for marketing‑generated leads, from initial contact through closing
- Build and manage a sales pipeline using Salesforce to meet annual revenue targets
- Conduct discovery conversations, product demos and proposal development in collaboration with internal teams
- Represent CAPTRS at conferences, exercises, and industry events, owning submissions of speaker abstracts for selected conferences
- Plan and execute pre‑ and post‑conference marketing and sales follow‑up to convert interest into clients
- Work closely with game development and product leads to understand offerings and relay market feedback
- Bring client and prospect insights back to the team to inform product evolution and positioning
- Track marketing and sales performance and share insights with leadership
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to align marketing, sales and mission goals
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in product marketing, growth marketing, sales, or a hybrid marketing/sales role
- Proven experience executing marketing campaigns and closing new business
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations and demos
- Comfortable managing a pipeline and working toward revenue goals
- Entrepreneurial and proactive—able to operate independently in a small, remote team
- Experience marketing to government, public sector, or mission‑driven organizations strongly preferred
- Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) a plus
- Interest in games, simulations, or decision‑support tools a plus
- Mission‑driven and motivated by improving preparedness and resilience
- Action‑oriented, organized, and persistent
- Comfortable wearing multiple hats and adapting as priorities evolve
- Curious, creative, and able to connect product capabilities to real‑world client needs
