Sanitation Worker 3rd shift

Overview

Purpose: Responsible for cleaning of equipment, equipment lines and production area to USDA standards.

• Hoses down all plant equipment, floors, and walls using cold-water rinse.
• Applies chemicals for cleaning, degreasing and sanitizing using sprayers and hoses.
• Applies a hot water wash down of sterilization.
• Shovels and sweeps up waste from daily production of meat products.
• Gather trash in carts and transports to trash compactor for disposal.
• Cleans drains and sewers in plant area by sweeping floors and transporting debris to trash area.
• Cover sensitive equipment for protection.
• Handles equipment and chemicals according to government, MSDS and company safety standards.
• Familiar with General Manufacturing Procedures.
• Complies with lockout/tag out program.
• Performs other duties assigned by management.

Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties. Work conditions vary, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 30 to 110 degrees in processing departments. Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment is present. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant.

Floors are damp and slick. Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 60 lbs., and stand for long periods of time.

• To keep the packing equipment and work area in a safe and orderly manner.
• Know and understand how to keep area clean.
• To have an up to date inventory of packing supplies.
• Have knowledge of sanitation procedures.
• Be willing to rotate jobs.
• Know and understand good manufacturing practices.
• Know and understand safety guidelines.
• Other jobs as assigned.

High school education or equivalent preferred. Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Ability to communicate and work well with others in a team effort.
