Job Summary

The Production Superintendent oversees daily night‑shift operations of an assigned site, ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards. This role leads and manages production teams, coordinates with other departments, and provides the necessary support as the head management representative on night shift operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate all production activities on the plant, working with other departments to ensure smooth operational flow.
  • Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly production targets are met according to the schedule and customer demand.
  • Hold supervisors, group leaders, and team leaders accountable for production standards and targets.
  • Lead, train, and mentor production supervisors, setting clear performance expectations, providing feedback, and managing performance evaluations.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment to ensure high morale and teamwork.
  • Ensure production processes meet established quality standards and specifications.
  • Work closely with the quality control department to address any product defects or process issues promptly.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, reduce waste, and minimize downtime.
  • Promote and enforce workplace safety practices and procedures, conduct regular safety audits, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Investigate any accidents or incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policy, safety policies, and 5S expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager to adjust production schedules for optimal sequencing and to meet customer deadlines.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, quality control, and supply chain departments to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Manage resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to optimize production performance.
  • Identify and address operational challenges or bottlenecks that arise during a shift.
  • Work with maintenance teams to resolve equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to minimize production delays.
  • Initiate actions to prevent non‑conformance related to productivity or quality.
  • Escalate human‑resources related concerns to the assigned HR Representative and assist as instructed by HR.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, quality, efficiency, and downtime, and inform the Production Manager of any deviations.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and send daily reports of shift operations to the Production Manager, reporting performance against daily goals, issues, and proposed solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or related field preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Production Superintendent or comparable manufacturing leadership role.
  • Experience leading and developing highly responsive teams.
  • Experience with quality systems, ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 preferred.
Computer Skills
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and in the use of e‑mail and web browser applications.
Mathematical Abilities
  • Intermediate‑advanced math skills; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Analytical & Reasoning Abilities
  • Strong analytical, planning, and critical thinking skills with orientation for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to understand and follow written technical procedures/instructions.
  • Ability to effectively prepare business and technical documentation such as procedures, reports, and presentations.
Communication Skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Highly effective, articulate communication skills (verbal & written) with strong interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Bilingual English‑Spanish preferred.
Other Technical or Special Knowledge
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work.
