Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator at Municipal Operations & Consulting, Inc. — Full Time
Job DescriptionThe individual in this position provides technical operational changes, adjustments, and repairs to plant equipment and facilities in both water and wastewater treatment plants, usually with considerable independence. The operator reports to a supervisor who provides bi‑annual performance evaluations. Openings are located in Cypress and Katy, Texas (suburbs of Houston) and Austin/San Antonio, Texas.
Responsibilities- Observe plant metering equipment on a scheduled basis, noting flow readings at specified intervals and making adjustments to maintain plant operation within standards.
- Keep a log of plant operational characteristics, changes, repairs, and other incidents relevant to plant production.
- Collect water or wastewater samples at stages of treatment for analysis.
- Report defects in plant operations to the supervisor.
- Supervise trainee work, instructing them in plant operations and operator responsibilities.
- Perform prescribed washing, painting, and routine maintenance on plant and generator equipment.
- Support major maintenance activities on plant and operating equipment.
- Operate all plant equipment as required.
- Advise supervisor when plant operates outside mandated standards and prepare monthly reports to the state regulatory agency.
- Stand by for after‑hours emergencies or overtime.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- High school graduation or GED.
- A Class “A”, “B”, or “C” water or wastewater operator license.
- Experience meeting or exceeding TCEQ requirements: 2 years for a C license, 5 years for a B license, 8 years for an A license, or equivalent education and experience.
- Current Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record per company policy.
- Full medical, dental, vision (available after 60 days).
