Overview

MG2, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a Principal Architect - Data Centers to join our Client Programs Market team. The role involves leading studio business operations, overseeing growth and financial performance, and delivering project leadership across design and delivery phases. In this position, you will foster collaboration across markets, develop strategic initiatives, and cultivate client relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee staffing assignments and build project teams that execute project work and deliver excellence in design, technical expertise, and project management.
  • Bring in new clients and new revenue annually, targeting growth.
  • Maintain overall performance responsibility for project teams, including design and delivery of contracted work.
  • Collaborate with market leaders to set strategic direction for design practice studios aligned with firm-wide goals.
  • Oversee development and implementation of a consistent Rhythm-of-Business, including guidelines for project execution and client services.
  • Meet regularly with market leadership and Senior Project Managers to ensure alignment with budgets and client goals.
  • Lead the development and implementation of firm-wide strategic initiatives, including annual business planning.
  • Oversee cross-market collaboration, supporting regional design practices and project team integration.
  • Review internal and external risks and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead development of project proposals, RFP responses, and business development initiatives.
  • Develop and manage annual studio operational budget with other studio leaders.
  • Manage health and viability of client relationships through direct interaction and growth opportunities.
  • Participate in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Review performance of team members, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Oversee annual goal setting and performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with leaders across the firm for continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance to internal team members.
  • Facilitate cross-market collaboration and regional practice integration.
  • Serve as subject-matter expert and firm-wide resource.
  • Implement tactical execution strategies aligned with business plans.
  • Navigate conflict and facilitate change with clear outcomes.
  • Develop and execute internal learning and development resources.
  • Ensure deliverable quality, client service excellence, and financial performance.
  • Make strategic staffing and resource management decisions.
  • Prioritize initiatives and billable work across teams.
  • Maintain safe and equitable work environment.
  • Engage in community activities and philanthropic events.
  • Support staffing changes, promotions, and team building.
  • Invest time in professional development of individuals and teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in a professional architecture or design firm.
  • Licensed professional (preferred).
  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale business operations and studio-wide financial management.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse studio groups with both tactical and strategic planning.
  • Experience leading large-scale strategic initiatives.
  • Strong business development experience, including proposal and RFP development.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to foster collaborative team environments.
  • Capability to manage staffing resources across internal markets and multiple teams.
  • Strong client relationship management ability.
  • Experience with future state organizational planning.
  • Conflict navigation and change management proficiency.
Compensation

$125,000 to $200,000 per year (depending on qualifications).
