Position SummaryThe Construction Manager is responsible for leading construction projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards. This role combines hands-on site supervision with cross-functional coordination among internal teams, subcontractors, designers, and vendors. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable managing people in the field and collaborating with stakeholders in planning, design, and operations.
EssentialJob Duties /Responsibilities
Project & Site Management
- Oversee daily on-site construction activities, sequencing, and logistics
- Enforce project schedules and proactively address delays or conflicts
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and trades
- Conduct site walks, inspections, and quality control reviews
- Maintain accurate daily reports, schedules, and project documentation
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as the primary liaison between field construction operations, project management, design, engineering, and procurement teams
- Participate in pre-construction planning, constructability reviews, and value engineering
- Translate design intent and project requirements into executable field plans
- Collaborate with estimating and procurement teams on scope alignment and material lead times
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety policies, OSHA standards, and company procedures
- Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Ensure compliance with local codes, permits, and inspection requirements
- Proactively identify and mitigate jobsite risks
Budget & Schedule Control
- Monitor labor productivity and material usage
- Assist with cost tracking, change management, and forecasting
- Identify potential scope gaps, conflicts, or cost impacts early
- Support project closeout, punch lists, and turnover documentation
Leadership & Communication
- Lead and mentor field personnel and foremen
- Set expectations for performance, quality, and accountability
- Communicate clearly with clients, architects, engineers, and internal leadership
- Resolve conflicts professionally and decisively
Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing
- Proven experience coordinating multiple trades and stakeholders
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with project management and scheduling software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, or similar)
- Ability to display a cooperative attitude towards co-workers, residents, and community contacts.
- Ability to produce work that consistently meets quality requirements of accuracy, thoroughness, and effectiveness.
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility but regularly oversees and directs teams, vendors, and others in the performance of duties. This position requires a high level of independent thinking and judgment to perform daily responsibilities. The employee receives general direction and guidance from the Vice President of Construction and is guided by regulations or internal procedures. The employee generally establishes their own courses of action in accordance with departmental deadlines and priorities.
Many duties are initiated by the employee without supervisory direction.
- BS in Construction Science, Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent, Construction Manager, or similar role required.
- 15+ years of experience may replace educational requirement
- Proven experience coordinating multiple trades and stakeholders required.
- Experience working across design-build or integrated project delivery teams preferred.
- Experience with commercial, industrial, or multi-disciplinary projects preferred.
- Familiarity with project management and scheduling software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, or similar) preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Valid state-issued Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.
