Texas Director of Land / Site Development (Engineering, Planning & Landscape Architecture)

Location:
Austin or San Antonio, Texas

Full-Time / Leadership Role

Are you a seasoned land development leader with a passion for building teams, shaping markets, and driving excellence across civil, planning, and landscape disciplines? Here’s your chance to lead and expand a dynamic Community Infrastructure practice in one of the fastest-growing regions in the country.

We’re seeking a high-impact Director to provide vision, strategy, and operational leadership for multidisciplinary land development services across Central Texas. In this role, you’ll be a cornerstone of growth in engineering, planning, and landscape architecture — helping position the organization for long-term success.

What You’ll Lead

As the Texas Director, you will:

  • Provide visionary leadership and operational oversight for the engineering, planning, and landscape architecture teams in Austin and/or San Antonio.

  • Inspire, mentor, and grow talented managers, technical staff, and multidisciplinary teams — setting the pace for a collaborative, performance-driven culture.

  • Strategically influence market growth
, helping expand services, strengthen local presence, and enhance brand recognition across Texas land development sectors — residential, mixed-use, institutional, and public infrastructure.

  • Partner with leaders across divisions to align goals, improve processes, and deliver exceptional client outcomes across regional land development portfolios.

  • Champion quality, safety, and innovation while ensuring projects and teams consistently exceed expectations.

  • Support proposals, qualifications packages, and strategic pursuits without requiring heavy individual business development — although your market credibility and relationship network will contribute to future growth opportunities.

What You Bring to the Table

You are a strategic, people-first leader with:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Planning, or a related field (advanced degree a plus).

  • 20+ years of progressive land development experience
, with a strong record of leadership and delivery in both private and public sector projects.

  • Professional licensure (PE, PLA, AICP) in Texas (or the ability to obtain) — positioning you as a trusted technical authority.

  • A proven track record of elevating multidisciplinary service lines
, improving operational performance, and leading diverse technical teams to success.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills — enabling strong collaboration with clients, partners, municipalities, and internal stakeholders.

  • A firm grasp of risk management, quality assurance, and the ability to navigate multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Why This Role Matters

This is not a typical director job — it’s an opportunity to shape a key regional practice, work alongside talented professionals, and leave a lasting impact on the built environment across Central Texas. You’ll play a central role in defining how land development services evolve in one of the nation’s most dynamic markets.

What You’ll Love About It
  • A leadership role with strategic autonomy and organizational impact
    .

  • A strong existing team to support your vision and expansion plans.

  • Access to exciting and varied land development projects (residential, mixed-use, institutional, municipal).

  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and professional growth opportunities.
