Job Overview:
A San Antonio-based law firm is seeking a motivated Immigration Attorney to handle a wide array of removal defense matters before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). This position offers significant opportunities for professional development and collaboration within a supportive legal team. The ideal candidate will bring strategic thinking, compassion for clients, and strong litigation skills to support individuals facing deportation and related immigration challenges.

Duties:

Provide legal counsel on immigration matters, with a focus on EOIR representation

Represent both detained and non-detained individuals before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals

Develop and implement defense strategies tailored to client circumstances

Conduct in-person intakes with detained individuals at detention centers

Prepare and file various immigration applications and supporting documentation

Review legal filings for accuracy and completeness

Draft and submit legal briefs, motions, and other court documents

Participate in community outreach by engaging with law enforcement, prosecutors, and local organizations on immigration updates

Meet with prospective clients to assess immigration options and legal strategies

Coach clients and witnesses for hearings and USCIS interviews

Collaborate with legal assistants and fellow attorneys on case preparation and execution

Requirements:

1-5 years of experience practicing immigration law

Demonstrated ability to manage a full caseload independently

Familiarity with EOIR procedures and USCIS filings

Proficiency in family-based immigration petitions, humanitarian relief, and citizenship cases

Skilled in courtroom advocacy and legal brief writing

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Commitment to client service and equitable representation

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Good standing with the licensing Bar

Skills:

Legal research and analysis

Strategic case planning

Oral and written advocacy

Client interviewing and counseling

Use of legal case management software (preferred)
