Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a highly skilled Family Law Attorney to manage a caseload of family law matters. The ideal candidate will have experience in various family law cases such as divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, adoption, and domestic violence. This position requires handling cases from start to finish, providing legal guidance to clients, drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, and representing clients in court proceedings.
Location: Houston, Texas
Duties:
- Manage a caseload of family law matters from inception to resolution
- Conduct client consultations, offering legal advice and guidance
- Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and agreements
- Stay up to date on relevant family law developments through legal research
- Represent clients in court, mediation sessions, and negotiations with other attorneys or parties
- Communicate effectively with clients, court staff, opposing counsel, and support staff
- Track and manage billable hours and ensure all case management tasks are completed
- Work closely with paralegals and support staff for efficient case management
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring exceptional service
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the state bar and in good standing
- Minimum of 1 year of experience practicing family law
- Strong knowledge of family law principles, procedures, and practices
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Education:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Certifications:
- Admission to the State Bar and in good standing
Skills:
- Family law knowledge and litigation experience
- Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage a caseload efficiently and meet deadlines
- Negotiation and client advocacy expertise
- Organizational skills for case and time management
