Educational Sign Language Interpreter – $40/hr – San Antonio, TX – In-Person – 18 Weeks

Position Overview:

We are seeking an Educational Sign Language Interpreter to facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others in an educational setting. This role involves interpreting classroom instruction, activities, and discussions using American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods.

  Approximately 18 weeks (end of school year)

• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday, 10:15 AM – 3:15 PM

• Hours:
  
  25–30 per week

• Pay Rate: $40/hour

• Modality:
  In-person only

• Openings: 1 position

• Interpret classroom, administrative, and social interactions for students with auditory impairments

• Provide sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting (ASL, SEE, oral interpreting)

• Prepare sign vocabulary specific to each class by reviewing materials in advance

• Assist teachers and students in communication and learning activities

• Collaborate with instructional teams and maintain positive relationships with students

• Proficiency in American Sign Language

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in interpreting, deaf studies, or related field preferred

• Active BEI certification or applicable state certification

• EIPA or RID certification as required by state or client

• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

• TB screening and health certificate per state guidelines
