Principal Engineer​/Analyst - San Antonio, TX​/Columbia, MD

Minimum/General

Experience:

Extensive experience in telecom research and building data dictionaries based on industry standards such as IEEE and ITU‑T. The data analyst will research, design, develop, and demonstrate the data research aligns with an operational telecom analysis system.

Functional Responsibility:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Identify operational specifications and formulate and analyze software requirements by applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.

* Work with software development and analyst teams on requirements and solution design.

* Use techniques including sampling, model building, and structured analysis to ensure solution is efficient, cost-effective, and financially feasible.

* Drive development and collection needs around data analytics and data modeling/engineering.

* Gather and publish data dictionaries:
Maintain data models in ER/win, capture data models from existing databases, and record descriptive information into Erwin (or Visio, Excel, and/or Lucid Chart).

* Participate in the de-normalization of the data model, ensuring that business are implemented via an alternate mechanism (i.e. trigger, application code).

* Closely work with the App Dev team and DBA to create an appropriate conceptual, logical, and physical data model.

* Present data designs and project approaches to the DRB for review and approval and ensure all DRB artifacts are created.

* Identify business needs, organize, and define data, create, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models;
Maintain appropriate Version Control on data models.

Desired Experience/Capabilities:

Possess and maintain required skills to include, but not limited to:

* Telecommunications protocols, call flows, databases, and data servers

* Radio frequency and telecommunications standards, equipment, and processing techniques

* Telephony and VOIP Terminologies

* Open Stack framework

* Software Defined Networks (SDN)

Required Qualifications:

* Applying Agile/Scrum methodologies for project delivery and quality assurance using Jira, Confluence, and similar tools.

* Applying analytical solutions and utilize Python and SQL scripting, data access tools, and MS Word to generate reports and liaise with multiple teams.

* Utilizing Python and SQL to write and execute complex queries and procedures to test algorithms based on data models for telecommunication insights.

Educational and Clearance Requirements:

* M.S. in STEM or 12+ years direct experience and 6+ years technical leadership

* B.S. in STEM or 15+ years direct experience and 6+ years technical leadership

* PhD in STEM or 10+ years direct experience and 6+ years technical leadership

* Possess a current TS/SCI clearance
