Powering the Future:
Keeping Critical Power Systems Online 24/7. Our Service Center Division team is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Field Service Technician to support uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and power quality products for customers nationwide. In this hands-on role, you’ll troubleshoot, repair, test, and maintain single- and three-phase UPS systems and related peripherals. Your work will directly support mission-critical environments where power reliability and uptime are essential.
You’ll Do
- Deliver Expert Field Service:
Perform on-site service of power quality products, including system start-ups, preventive and remedial maintenance, field modifications, and performance testing. - Troubleshoot And Repair Systems:
Diagnose and repair routine UPS and power quality system failures. Troubleshoot malfunctions down to the board level with minimal guidance and escalate non-routine issues to leadership as required. - Provide Technical Support:
Deliver technical support to internal teams, external customers, third-party service organizations, and end users via phone, email, and on-site service. - Respond When It Matters Most:
Schedule and provide emergency technical support and on-call field service to restore critical power systems. - Inspect, Test, And Verify:
Inspect, test, and document failed products, components, and systems prior to return to the factory to determine defects and operational status. - Collaborate For Better Solutions:
Work closely with other MEPPI departments to identify product solutions that improve system performance, protection, and reliability. - Support Project Execution:
Attend daily project meetings as required and coordinate service activities to meet customer and project timelines. - Document With Precision:
Maintain accurate service records and documentation of all services performed. Develop detailed analysis reports related to the repair and inspection of UPS and energy storage equipment. - Guide And Support Others:
Provide guidance and support to less experienced technicians during troubleshooting and repair activities. - Recommend Long-Term Solutions:
Identify customer needs and recommend service product offerings that support long-term system performance and capital investment protection, such as battery upgrades. - Manage Administrative Tasks:
Submit accurate and timely expense reports in accordance with company policies.
- Associate’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics or a related technical field required.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience troubleshooting and repairing technical, electrical, and/or electronic products; or equivalent education and experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of UPS products, services, and peripherals, including familiarity with common electrical equipment used in data center environments.
- Advanced proficiency with mechanical and electronic test equipment, including operation, data collection, and reporting.
- Basic understanding of communication and networking protocols.
- OSHA 10 Construction and NFPA 70E certifications required.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed equipment schematics and facility one-line drawings.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills to effectively interact with customers, employees, and suppliers.
- Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office applications and MRP/ERP business systems.
- Frequent travel to customer sites.
- Work performed in data centers, industrial facilities, and electrical/mechanical rooms.
- Exposure to energized electrical equipment and mission-critical power systems.
