Role Overview:
We are seeking a Data Center Technician to support servers in customer data centers. The ideal candidate is technically skilled (hardware, IT, cabling), detail-oriented, self-motivated, and collaborative. Responsibilities include hardware setup, diagnostics, troubleshooting, decommissioning, documentation, and knowledge sharing. The role involves both internal and client-facing tasks, with opportunities to lead initiatives.
- Set up, stage, and maintain servers, racks, and network equipment following standard procedures.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, identify root causes, and replace faulty components.
- Perform post-execution quality checks and ensure proper cabling, labeling, and safety compliance.
- Decommission and refresh hardware (memory upgrades, OS rebuilds).
- Report incidents and escalate as needed.
- Contribute to team meetings, knowledge sharing, and efficient workflow.
- Meet or exceed SLAs and KPIs, maintaining high-quality service and user experience.
- Strong server hardware knowledge and diagnostic skills.
- Experience with IPMI, Windows Server OS, WinPE, and basic Linux.
- Network troubleshooting (Layer-1 to Layer-3) and virtual machine setup.
- Ability to work independently and in dispersed teams.
- 2+ years as a data center technician.
- Associate degree in CS, IT, or equivalent preferred.
- Certifications:
CompTIA A+, Server+, CCENT; CCNA and MCP/MSCE preferred. - Basic scripting (Power Shell, Python, Bash) preferred.
- Physical requirements:
lift up to 35 lbs, climb ladders safely, stand/walk for extended periods, use hands/tools efficiently.
