$65 to $70 per hour contract with a conversion salary of $125K to $135K annually DOE

We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Project Manager to lead and coordinate networking and structured cabling projects for external clients across education and public sector environments. This role will be instrumental in formalizing and maturing project management processes within a growing IT services organization. The Project Manager will oversee a high volume of concurrent infrastructure initiatives ranging from small professional services engagements to large, multi-year network overhauls.

This position requires strong waterfall methodology expertise, deep familiarity with networking concepts, and the ability to work closely with engineering teams while maintaining strong client relationships. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, process-driven, comfortable operating in a developing PMO environment, and willing to travel within Texas as needed.

• Manage IT infrastructure projects of varying size and complexity.
• Lead projects involving routing, switching, Wi-Fi, and structured cabling deployments.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) using Microsoft Project.
• Drive waterfall-based project execution from initiation through closeout.
• Coordinate closely with engineering teams and structured cabling teams to ensure successful delivery.
• Serve as the primary customer-facing point of contact for project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Conduct on-site visits for site walks, status meetings, and client coordination across Texas.
• Establish and refine project management processes within a maturing PMO environment.
• Integrate and optimize collaboration tools including Microsoft Teams and Planner.
• Communicate risks, scope changes, and dependencies clearly to stakeholders.
• Mentor or guide junior project managers as needed.

• Significant experience managing IT infrastructure projects in networking and/or structured cabling environments.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts including routing, switching, and Wi-Fi technologies.
• Experience working in a VAR (Value-Added Reseller) or professional services environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Teams, and Planner.
• Demonstrated expertise in waterfall project methodology (Agile/Scrum not required).
• Ability to manage a high volume of concurrent projects effectively.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly within Texas.
• PMP certification strongly preferred (required for some contract/RFP considerations). Equivalent extensive experience may be considered.
• Must be located in Texas.

• Experience building or formalizing PMO processes from the ground up.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems such as Desk 365.
• Experience working with education
