GS-11

To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions, as defined below: specialized experience or education.

  • Specialized

    Experience:

    One year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in Federal service. Qualifying experience includes Information Technology concepts, methods, and analysis, and may involve maintaining network architecture and infrastructure, including SharePoint-based intranet systems; resolving hardware and software problems related to both general IT systems and SharePoint environment performance; providing IT concepts, methods, standards, and practices; configuring, managing, and supporting SharePoint sites and workflows;

    deploying software and updates using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM); creating and maintaining automation scripts (e.g., Power Shell); and providing customer service by assisting end users with IT-related issues.
  • Education: A PH.D or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree AND this education is either in one of the following fields OR provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the following fields and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
GS-12

To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service. This experience could have been gained in the federal, public, or private sector.

  • Specialized

    Experience:

    One year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service. Qualifying experience includes performing the following types of duties: installing and maintaining network systems, including file and utility server configurations and maintenance; configuring and maintaining servers, hubs, routers, switches, including SharePoint-based intranet sites; installing network upgrades; performing network diagnostics and resolving network problems; assessing IT policy needs;

    implementing procedures to ensure information systems reliability; installing hardware and software; managing software deployments using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM); developing and implementing automation scripts (e.g., Power Shell); and providing customer service by assisting end users with IT-related issues.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)

The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if:

  • This vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility;
