The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state.
Responsibilities- The BHS III for Behavior Support provides behavior support services, including behavior observations, data analysis, training of behavioral interventions, and modeling of behavior support across settings, commensurate with education and experience and under supervision of a Board Certified, Licensed Behavior Analyst.
- Assist in development, implementation, and evaluation of behavior support plans (including comprehensive functional behavioral assessments), staff training, data collection and reporting, and program evaluation.
- Work under supervision of a Board Certified, Licensed Behavior Analyst who reviews observations and interventions for professional standards.
- Serve as a member of Unit and Interdisciplinary Teams; provide technical assistance and staff training on behavior support plans.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality enhancement activities related to behavioral health service provision.
- Work with individuals who may have complex needs and challenging behaviors; follow supervision model (Unit Model or Departmental Model).
- Assist in coordinating and reviewing psychotropic medications with non-pharmacological supports.
- Plan and supervise work of assigned staff to facilitate effective behavior service delivery; participate in evaluations and data collection for assessments and annual updates.
- Maintain knowledge in behavioral analysis and training techniques; participate in disaster response/COOP as needed.
- Attend work regularly and comply with shift schedules; may include rotating schedules, extended shifts, or overtime per agency policy.
- May serve in on-call status on a rotating schedule to meet facility needs.
- Conduct observations and data analysis as part of functional behavioral assessments; train and model behavior support plans and related plans to meet individual needs.
- Ensure staff training in behavior supports and related topics; provide instruction on behavior support plans.
- Monitor and evaluate behavior, psychiatric, and skills acquisition plans; ensure progress evaluations meet professional standards.
- Provide documentation (data, graphs, progress notes) reflecting treatment response.
- Participate as an effective member of Unit and Interdisciplinary Teams to support service delivery.
