The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state.

Responsibilities- The Behavior Analyst provides senior level behavior analysis services in the form of consultation and technical assistance to individuals with cognitive, developmental, physical and health related needs, working under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
- Provides supervision to behavioral health staff in the area of applied behavior analysis.
- Performs observations and functional assessments necessary for behavior analysis and service delivery, including restraint reduction, skill acquisition plans, and data analysis of the effects of psychotropic medication.
- Provides training to staff concerning positive and effective approaches to preventing/addressing challenging behaviors.
- Assists in evaluating the consistent implementation of behavior support plans through personal observation, staff interviews, and review of documentation.
- Develops systems and procedures to meet applicable laws, regulations, and departmental and agency policy requirements.
- Serves on work groups and committees and may chair the Behavior Support Plan Peer Review Committee.
- Supports disaster response and Continuity of Operations (COOP) activities as needed.
- Attend work regularly; work a specific or rotating schedule as required; may include extended shifts or overtime.
- May serve in an on-call status to meet facility needs.
- Assess behavior needs, determine function of challenging behavior, and develop behavior plans.
- Participate in mandatory training per HHSC policies, HIPAA, regulations, and applicable settlements to provide quality services.
- Provide behavior analysis services through consultation and technical assistance; conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments and develop behavior support plans.
- Train staff and interdisciplinary teams to implement effective behavior analysis interventions.
- Evaluate behavior support plan development and implementation via observation, interviews, and documentation review.
- Participate in services related to skill acquisition, reduction of peer-to-peer aggression, restraints, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Support agency disaster/recovery and COOP initiatives as needed.
Skills And Abilities
(KSAs)
- Ability to conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments and develop behavior support plans.
- Knowledge of applied behavior analysis and plan development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of medications used to assist with behavior management and how to track treatment effectiveness.
- Ability to evaluate data and make clinical recommendations.
- Ability to train and supervise staff and work with minimal supervision.
- Experience delivering behavioral services to individuals with intellectual disabilities, including skills acquisition and restraint reduction.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policies related to behavioral services.
- Strong writing skills for technical reports and related documents.
