This role offers a competitive base pay range of $60,000.00/yr - $70,000.00/yr and a $5,000 sign‑on bonus for fully licensed professionals. Terms and conditions apply.

Respite Care of San Antonio is a mission‑driven team dedicated to improving the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities (IDD), and other behavioral health challenges.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE

The Therapist is responsible for providing trauma‑informed individual therapeutic services to support children who have a DSM‑5 diagnosis or IDD and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Therapist is expected to diagnose clients within 72 hours of intake and re‑evaluate every six months to assess client progress through clinical goals. The Therapist is also responsible for an initial treatment plan within 14 days of intake and updates the treatment plan every 90 days.

What

You’ll Do
  • Provide individual therapy to children with behavioral, developmental, and emotional challenges.
  • Complete diagnostic assessments within 72 hours of intake; re‑assess every 6 months.
  • Develop and update treatment plans based on measurable clinical goals (initial plan due within 14 days, updated every 90 days).
  • Deliver services in a variety of settings: residential homes, in‑office, or community‑based/in‑home sessions.
  • Collaborate with caregivers, caseworkers, legal advocates (e.g., CASA), and other members of the child’s treatment team.
  • Participate in on‑call crisis response rotation with a supportive team of therapists and behavioral specialists.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record system.
Job Responsibilities
  • Contribute to RCSA’s mission and program philosophies through quality performance and professionalism.
  • Adhere to all federal and state laws/regulations and internal procedures, including HIPAA.
  • Report suspected abuse or neglect promptly to the treatment director or staff; report to the Child Abuse Hotline within 24 hours when required.
  • Establish healthy communication with caseworkers, CASA advocates, family members, and other parties to ensure quality care.
  • Participate in agency quality assurance activities, including case record reviews and incident reviews.
  • Demonstrate respect for diverse cultures and individual client differences.
  • Maintain professional licensure and required trainings.
  • Attend staff/agency meetings as required.
Required Qualifications
  • 21 years of age or older with successful background checks (Texas DPS, Texas Dept. of Health, Texas Dept. of Family and Protective Services), negative drug and TB tests.
  • Licensed mental health professional in Texas (LPC, LPC‑A, LMFT, LCSW). LPC‑A expected to be licensed within 3 months.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with children, families, and individuals with behavioral health issues; preferred experience with children with Autism or IDD.
  • Experience with trauma‑informed care and family/group therapy preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Professional Liability Insurance and valid Texas Clinical License.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong clinical knowledge of service delivery for children, adolescents, and young adults.
  • Knowledge of Autism and IDD, and service delivery standards for these populations.
  • Familiarity with DFPS system and foster/adoptive setting experience preferred.
