Medical Assistant (MA3921) - MAC Campus at Communi Care
Under general supervision, performs both front office and back office duties to support the Clinical Services team. Key responsibilities include patient intake, clinical assistance, administrative support, and inventory management.
Responsibilities- Assists with day‑to‑day operations of the front and back office; ensures all medical assistant tasks are completed timely and efficiently.
- Administers injections, assists with non‑invasive direct patient care procedures such as EKGs, vision and hearing screenings, and waived testing; assists with medical exams within the scope of practice.
- Obtains patient medical history, vital signs, and completes quality metrics in compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies; participates in internal/external audits.
- Maintains inventory of medical supplies and immunization equipment; ensures equipment is calibrated, charged, and cleaned.
- Registers patients, updates information, data entry of demographics, verifies insurance plans, and posts encounter data to funding/insurance plans.
- Completes end‑of‑day reconciliation reports; reconciles cash with system reports and deposits cash into safe.
- Prepares for next‑day clinic by identifying appointment types, chart preparation, updating proof of income, pre‑registering patients, and screening for program eligibility.
- Provides exceptional customer service both internally and externally; greets customers, addresses concerns, and assists other departments as needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association.
- Knowledgeable in personal computers.
- Experience with EMR/EHR in a primary health‑care setting.
- Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed.
- Finger dexterity for typing and handling small objects.
- Speaking clearly and quickly for instructions and patient interaction.
- Normal hearing and ability to hear whispered voice at five feet.
- Frequent repetitive motions of wrists and hands.
- Visual acuity sufficient for evaluating patients and inspecting documents; ability to view computer monitors.
- Standing 70‑80% of time, sitting 20‑30%; lifting up to 25 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 45 lbs; ability to bend and twist.
