Release of Information Tech-Senior (ADM Medical Records MARC) Job Description
Under limited supervision, responsible for receiving, reviewing, processing, and tracking requests for patient medical records.
This position is hybrid AFTER training onsite is complete with required rotating onsite visits every three weeks.
ResponsibilitiesAssists all walk in patients/customers with their questions and/or requests regarding health information.
Provides instructions/guidance on requirements to release or request health information.
Reviews release forms to ensure state/federal guidelines are met prior to any release of health information.
Answers any calls received from patients/customers regarding requests for health information.
Provides instructions/guidance on requirements for obtaining copies of health information.
Performs data entry for submitted request forms for health information into the Epic Release of Information Module; scans request forms into the system.
Locates patient medical records, copies/prints records; processes billing for copy/scan requests when applicable.
Attends to all “stat” requests as presented by requesting parties.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
ualificationsKnowledgeable of State and Federal rules and regulations governing the release of health information inclusive of HIPAA and the Privacy Rule.
Strong customer service acumen and interpersonal skills to effectively work with both internal and external customers and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.
Ability to maintain strict protocols of all confidential or sensitive information.
Ability to work independently with strong attention to accuracy and detail.
Proficiency in relevant software such as MS Office suite.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years of experience in medical records or relevant clerical experience, including at least three (3) years release of information experience is required.
EDUCATION:
High School Degree or GED Required.

Retirement - Employees are eligible for either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees.
