Patient Care Technician - Med Surg

Under the direction/supervision of RN, provides basic and intermediate nursing care for assigned group of patients based on competence.

• Care for patients in General Nursing Units, Special Care Areas, Maternal Child Units, GI Lab Unit, Chemical Dependent Unit, Psychiatric Unit, Emergency Unit, and Surgical Services.
• Completes established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

• Minimum Education:
  
  High School Graduate or equivalent, graduate of an accredited Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, or intermediate or higher‑level Emergency Medical Technician program.
• Preferred Education:
  
  Completed nurse aide course, EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assisting.
• Minimum Experience:
  
  2 years of clinical experience in Inpatient, Emergency Department, or Skilled Nursing Unit.

• Current Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Phlebotomist, or EKG Technician certification.

• BLS – Obtained through an approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network.
• Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer to the position.
