Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsibilities
  • The technologist must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and adult patients.
  • Demonstrate competency in general diagnostic radiography, use of digital equipment, knowledge of the PACS system, positioning, procedure preparation and technical factors.
  • Responsible for proper use of RIS, Meditech (scheduling exams, patient tracking, image tracking, proper completion of exams, capture charges).
  • Understand and follow infection control/universal precautions in the performance of all job tasks.
  • Accommodate inpatients or urgent exam requests as the need arises.
  • Observe for image artifacts; clean image detectors as necessary.
  • Assess situations, consider alternatives and choose an appropriate course of action.
  • Obtain patient history as needed; assist radiologist during procedures, helping put the patient at ease.
  • Advise supervisor of any equipment issues requiring service.
  • Demonstrate ability to shut down radiologic equipment and/or reboot computers.
  • May have access to radiopharmaceuticals, contrast agents and other non‑controlled medications as appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • May be called upon to physically witness waste and/or inventory controlled substances with another authorized individual.
  • Responsible for maintaining work area (including cleaning exam rooms and mobile equipment, and stocking linen).
  • Support the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System; understand and commit to helping the system and its associated facilities achieve its goals.
  • Learn and comply with system and facility safety policies and rules; use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; report unsafe conditions immediately; check with supervisors before performing any job function if unsure about safe procedures.
  • Adhere to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrate ethical behavior as expected by patients, colleagues and the community.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Certificate of Training in Radiologic Technology Program or an Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology.
